Make A Wish And Blow It Into The Wind

For those who have been reading my blog for some time, then you will know that feathers seem to appear out of nowhere at my feet.

For those who don't know the story, I will give you a quick recollection.

Many years ago I went to a motivational workshop. The lady who was running the workshop had spent many, many years working along side of native Cherokee Indians in America.
She had been welcomed into their tribe as a honorary member and they taught her a lot about their traditions and culture.

The chief of the tribe had grown fond of this woman and passed on some very old beliefs to her.
One of them being

When feathers appear at your feet, spirit is watching over you and letting you know that you are being taken care of.
Spirit is letting you know that you are on the right path.

I'm not sure why this message penetrated so deeply in my soul, but it did.....

and ever since I heard this tale, feathers fall at my feet.

When you think about it there are feathers everywhere in this world. Wherever birds fly than you are going to find feathers. Yes I agree with your thoughts there.

The feathers that appear before me happen in unusual ways.
One day I was feeling quite down and as I sat in the middle of heavy traffic lost in my thoughts a perfect white fluffy feather landed on my windscreen.
My frown became a smile.

Another day, I walked out of the back door of our house with a washing basket tucked under my arm and as I took a step, a white perfect feather landed directly on top of my washing !
I laughed when I saw it and thought to myself 'something amazing is going to happen today'......and it did !

Other times I will be simply walking along the street or hanging washing on my line and more single white feathers appear.
Call it uncanny and a big coincidence but it is as true as I am standing here today.

I can't help but feel like angels are walking along side of me.
Wafting a soft feather onto my path to send me messages of hope and love.

Lately I have been receiving so many feathers.
You wouldn't believe just how many !
I feel as though everything in my life is perfectly aligned. My head is in a good place after some turbulent times and I feel as though happy times are ahead.
I can almost feel those silent angels brushing their feathery wings gently against my cheeks.
I feel as though I am being very well looked after and I am indeed living out my dreams.

All it took was a lot of faith and self belief and lots of love from those around me.
Times haven't been great for me for a few months now, but the foggy days seem to be coming to an end.
I have found peace in my heart that I possibly haven't felt for many years. But it is here now !

Life wasn't meant to be easy, but it certainly never stays that way. When one door closes another one opens.

I possibly had the hardest year of my life last year but I plodded through the year, filling my life with positivity and creation. Some days I really didn't feel like doing a thing but I picked myself up, dusted myself off and turned the darkness into something of love.
My passion of flowers and decorating and the support of a couple of dear friends pulled me through.
My family became my strength and they held my hand through some tough times indeed. For that I will always be grateful.
An extra special friend of mine who knows who she is, checked on me constantly and dragged me out for a day of shopping and giggles and tonnes of tea. She too, is one of my angels.

Don't forget that angels do not have to have wings.
They are indeed walking beside us every single day of our lives and appear as our friends, family members or even the local shopkeeper.
Keep your eyes open and give them a smile if you are lucky enough to be touched by one.

It has been a good week in my world this week.
I have slept in, I have blogged about my passions and I have shared great times with my family.
Tomorrow it is Australia Day and if this weather stays sunny and hot then I will spend the day on the beach, soaking up the sun and bathing in the deep blue sea.
Today I picked up my new glasses and I now look forward to reading the stack of books on my nightstand that I haven't been able to read. YAY !
My son said that I look 'smart' with my glasses on,
(You mean I wasn't already smart ! lol)

My hubby is cooking dinner tonight and I am going to watch a pile of movies and enjoy the evening.

I hope that you are also enjoying your evening/day and wonderful things come your way over the coming weekend.

I will see you all next week !
Have fun

Melanie

    1. Feathers are sure to appear for you Diane. It's the way it happens when anybody hears this story. I think that it opens up our minds to possibilities.

  2. I think I will head outside in a minute and take a short walk to the mailbox. I will be looking for feathers..not packages. AND...I am part Cherokee Indian! Now I know you didn't know that little fact, but it is true. My birthmother and I were planning a trip to Oklahoma to the Cherokee nation headquarters, but that was when she became so sick. We loved our heritage and the background surrounding it.
So you have an Indian friend who loves the same things you do!
I wonder if a feather will be awaiting me...
    Hugs,
    Doni

    1. I truly do believe that your angel is walking along side of you Doni.
Your heritage is truly wonderful and very spiritual and very much similar to our own native Aboriginals here in Oz.I am sure that spirit led the two of us together to be friends. Our passions are so linked in these tiny threads of lace that we share.
From the moment I heard the story about the feathers , they began to appear for me. I bet my bottom dollar that it begins for you now.
Love and blessings to you x

  8. Such a heartfelt post, Melanie. I found your blog through your facebook page, and I am glad I did. I too have had a difficult time. Five years ago, my husband, son and I lost our jobs. My son found another but he has to live with us because he had to start all over again in the pay scale. We were forced to retire. We had no income for over 10months and lived off of our savings. When that was depleated, we were able to get his pension. Life has been tough since then, but we're still here. I look for feathers too!!

  9. Thank you for sharing this story of the feathers with us. I am going to start watching for feathers of my own. I do seem to have a spirit animal though. Whenever something good is about to happen or when I am particularly down a red tailed hawk comes around. One actually landed in my yard and stared at me on my porch and another sat on a pole outside my kitchen window and watched me inside the house.
