THURSDAY FLOWERS

This week on Thursday flowers
I bring you poor little bruised roses that were tortured within an inch of their lives.

You see.......last week at floristry course we began our first lot of of graded assessments. First of all we had to prepare and display our roses for a boxed presentation.
What is a boxed presentation you ask ?
Well hands up who would love to receive a dozen long stemmed roses in a beautiful lined box from the delivery man ?
ME ME ME ME ME !!! (just in case my other half should be reading this post !...lol)
THAT'S WHAT YOU CALL A BOXED PRESENTATION !

I chose the softest, sweetest pink long stemmed roses. They were absolutely perfect, no bruising from transportation or rough handling.  I was ever so careful with them as I de-thorned and trimmed down the foliage on them.
By the end of the day after my assessment and making 'Tussy Mussy's (small bouquets) not once, but three times over, my roses were definitely not smiling.
Their final resting place came to be in this little box.
They still look pretty amongst the berries and baby pink carnations but the poor little roses are bruised beyond belief.
SMILING THEY ARE NOT ! lol

But they should rest easy knowing that I am one step closer to my final destination of becoming a florist.  Next time I may not need to undo and remake my Tussy Mussy three times. I could quite possibly save them all of the pain and get it right on the first go......

One can only hope.

One thing is for certain that practise makes perfect and it is just a case of repeat, repeat, repeat to get it right. It is as not as easy as it looks.
I did however receive a distinction for my boxed roses so I was very happy with that result. After snapping my bow for the box in the last 1 minute of exam time and having to quickly make another one, I was happy that it all had come to an end.
It was the first of many but a good start overall.

SO WITHOUT FURTHER ADO
I PRESENT MY WORKS OF ART !
(some photo's are mobile phone quality due to taking quick snaps in class)

(Above)
Aren't these pretty girls lined up like little soldiers beautiful
 I loooove them !
They are the most perfect shade of pink roses ever.

Thankyou so much for visiting !
(I am sorry that this post finds you all so late tonight. I had all sorts of troubles uploading photo's)

    1. Sylvia thanks so much for popping in to say hi ! Roses are up there with my favourites but Violets and Peonies are at the top. I am longing for Peonie season where I can fill a vase with a nice pink bunch x
