Twas The Night Before Christmas

The magic of Christmas is alive and well in our home tonight.
There is milk and chocolate meringues for Santa Claus,
carrots for his reindeer,
the gifts have all been wrapped
and the excitement of the brand new day soon to come keeping my 'babies' awake in their beds.
(They think, that I think, that they are asleep.)
BUT I will be ready at 2am when they usually try to sneak out to the living room for a quick peak under the tree.
They think that I don't see the missing candy canes from the tree and hear the chocolate wrappers crunching in the night :-)

"When can we wake up Mum ?" they ask
"Not before 7," I reply (fat chance of that happening but it's worth a try ! )

This is Christmas Eve at our place.
Our home full of love !

Sssssshhh  I think they might have all finally gone to sleep !
I'm going to settle down with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy the                            magic of this season of love and giving.
To all of you wonderful friends who love to visit me here at
                                                           French Blue and Peachy Pink
thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and friendship.
May the spirit of Christmas bring much happiness to you and yours !

                                    'Merry Christmas to all
and to all a good night !'
This post is dedicated to my loving Grandmother in heaven who I will never stop missing.
Merry Christmas  Grandma, I wish you were here to enjoy the carols with me xo

A Thoughtful Christmas Gift......DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU ARE MY MUM !

Giving is one of those precious things.
To give with an open heart and a smile fills ones life with joy

When I have a special occasion to give someone a gift I try to think about what the person loves.
I love the thought of giving the gift of creativity to my receiver. Something that will make the receiver feel good and give them a sense of accomplishment and for them to know that I really did think about what gift I have chosen.
Even the toughest to buy for can be easily satisfied.
Just think for a moment what the person really loves to do in his/her life.
Do they love to walk along the beach ?  Can you collect some pretty shells and hand make a shell mobile for them ?

Bake a traditional fruit cake for your Grandparents.  They more than likely will tell you that they don't need anything for Christmas but I bet they would adore something that you took the time to make for them. A batch of pickles or preserves perhaps ?

Does your loved one enjoy the countryside ? Maybe create a  treasure hunt for them for around the countryside. Give them clues and things they have to find or see. Perhaps have their photo taken with a cow etc. and pack them a picnic basket full of gourmet foods that you have made for them.
I did this for my children a few years ago now and they never forgotten the fun day that we had and they still even remember what their clues were !
It's about creating special memories.

There are so many options, so for those of you who are stuck for ideas, think about gifts from the heart. I bet that a gift from the heart will not only be warmly received but it will also never be forgotten.

This Christmas I really wanted to give my beautiful Mum something that would help her relax and unwind after a long year.
She is forever doing things for everybody else so I thought that it was important for her to do something nice for herself.
On a recent trip to the countryside I found a beautiful store selling Alpaca wool.  There were beautiful handmade goodies all through the store, anything from woollen jumpers to scarves to toys. It would have been easy to buy her something already made but when I picked up a big fluffy scane of white Alpaca wool I just  knew that I had to buy her the wool and she could knit something beautiful for herself.  Just touching this divine wool is so pleasurable and I can just imagine my Mum sitting by the fire this Winter knitting something beautiful with her wool. Half of the fun of receiving this wool will be deciding what lovely thing she will create with the wool.

Presentation of a gift is everything. Even the simplest of gifts can be made beautiful with small touches.
My Mum shared her love of lace with me so I wanted to wrap her gift up with lace !

I found a beautiful lace tea cloth in an antique store for her and wrapped her wool up with it. I pack it all up in a simple white gift box, overlapped the edges of the cloth and tied a simple bow with some more lace of a different colour.
A pair of vintage knitting needles were spruced up with some of the matching lace that I tied the present up with.

Remember it is not what you give but how you give it.
Always give with love and thoughtfulness

Angels With Crowns And Glitter And Stuff

Today I treated myself with a little something special because I have been a very good girl !
There is this very clever lady that lives in my town who makes the sweetest Christmas angels to sell each year for Christmas.

She is a lady after my own heart. She loves glitter, French blue, white lace, crowns and tulle.
She combines all of those things together to create something gorgeous.

So this is what I bought.

This pretty little angel who likes to wear crowns because she feels pretty in them. She likes to pirouette in her fluffy little tutu under my Christmas tree when the house is quiet !
She's quite enchanting

and this cheeky little girl with the cheeky grin peeks at the gifts under out tree. She thinks that I don't know but I have seen the sticky tape lifting off in quite a few places !
She likes to take a little nap in amongst the flowers of my Christmas wreath and she LOVES glitter. In fact there are traces of glitter all over our house from where she tip toes around each night.
and this little Santa hat clad girl on the right (below) is dreaming of a white Christmas but is about to be terribly disappointed because everybody knows that it's Summer here in Australia and a Winter coat is not really a good idea.  She will definitely be looking for an air conditioning unit and a Summer dress before you know it !
This little fur bunny is about to be posted off to another destination to live on somebody elses tree.
I won't tell who though because it will ruin the surprise.

and my very kind son bought this book for me for Christmas. It is a book about the meaning of flowers.I can't wait to sit back with a nice cold glass of iced tea and read it.

I hope that you all like my little goodies.
I am so grateful for having a beautiful family and friends to spend this magical  time of the year with.
Next time I speak with you all it will be Christmas Eve and Santa will be packing his sleigh and ringing his jingle bells. Children all over the world will be lying in their little beds unable to go to sleep because they are so excited.
Oh it is all so magical and fabulous
                        Enjoy your weekend.

My Little Christmas Village

At the risk of sounding very cliche, it really IS beginning to feel a lot like Christmas !

Every year I bring out my little Christmas time cottage community and make a little village in the snow.
Considering that it doesn't snow anywhere near where we live on the coast, it is my little Winter wonderland in the Summer !

I add a new cottage to my village every single year.
This year I added a little bit of 'sparkle' with a little cottage that actually lights up !
It is adorable but I'm using it sparingly as it doesn't appear to be battery powered which isn't a shame but it is so pretty anyway.
The lights inside the cottage change from aqua to blue to lilac to white and to green !
Scroll down and you will see.

There are a few little cottages up the back which are little miniatures without the glimmer but they still play a little role in my community.

and in walks the GIANT SIZED DEER..........

A tad scary for the tiny angel and the little girl riding her cart.
Everyone else is hiding in the little chapel until he goes away !
(sounds a bit like the King Kong movie but King Kong wasn't really big on the glitter ! lol)

........and they all live next door to my Christmas tree, patiently waiting for Santa to arrive because they know the children will leave cookies and milk out and they can sneak out and have a yummy snack !

Tomorrow I am heading up into the country for a couple of days so there will be no blog post tomorrow.
It will be rest and relaxation and crossed fingers some antiquing !

I hope that you will all have a lovely weekend and I will speak with you all again next week !
