Cupie Doll Cuteness

Meet Pearl !
Isn't she a little cutie Cupie ?

I bought 2 of these little new Cupie dolls before Christmas with grand plans to turn them into something special. But you know sometimes these grand plans that we all have sometimes never come to fruition.
Life gets busy etc etc....

Today I have been trying to organise my pile of lace and ribbons and I saw Pearl lying there in her plastic bag with a not very happy look on her face. After all.....I can't imagine that living inside a plastic bag for a large part of your life would be much fun at all.
She was completely naked....not a stitch (the poor thing !).
Well one thing led to another and I found myself holding pretty lace doilies up against her.
The doilies slowly turned into a dress and out came the hot glue gun to attach a little headband and shawl.

I think Pearl looks ever so pretty !
What do you think of her ?
Cute ?

Cupie dolls always catch my eye.
I think we all had Cupie dolls in all sorts of shapes and sizes when we were young.
I remember having a Cupie doll that came with a little bath and a pretend cake of soap and washer and I would adore filling up the little pink tub and washing my little dolly.

On my 1st birthday a little Cupie doll sat 'in' my cake.
Yes IN.......  I had a Dolly Varden cake !
(you know the cakes which have a doll coming up out of the cake. The cake being the skirt of the doll ?)
My Mum kept my little dolly from the top of my cake and I still have her.
My daughter had her on top of her birthday cake too.
My dolly is pictured underneath. She's the one with the extremely skimpy clothes on ! Oops
I should really make her something to wear shouldn't I ?

Maybe something like I made for Pearl perhaps ?

I think Pearl would look so lovely on top of a birthday cake.

Pearl is modelling the latest fashion from the Cupie doll catwalk in Paris ! lol
She is wearing a Victorian lace dress and a sweet little tulle bow in her hair. She's quite the trendsetter !

and this is the moment that Pearl met a very old 60 old version of herself.  I think Pearl was a little startled !

I will introduce you to Miss Pink shortly....
but first a couple of closeups of my pretty Cupie
Such a happy little face she has !

If any of you dear readers are even remotely frightened of dolls, now would be the time to look away.........

AND HERE IS THE SUPER MODEL HERSELF !!!

Pictured underneath is a little lovely old Cupie that I found at a flea market many years ago. I affectionately call her Miss Pink

She has had a rough life
her arm is hanging on by a thread and her little face looks like it's straight out of a horror movie.......

Lets say that she has been well loved !

Her clothes have been all hand made in pretty peachy pink lace and  a pretty little bonnet has been hand stitched on to her head.
I am only guessing but I think this little lady would be from the 1950's. She has a 'made in Hong Kong' stamp on her back.
If anybody can tell me more please do as I don't know a whole lot about the history of Cupie dolls

I had to giggle when I lifted up her dress to search for her stamp and found that somebody had painted a little pair of knickers on her to keep her decent ! lol

The poor little Miss Pink makes my Pearl look like a movie star !

Such a contrast between the 3 girls !
1950's
1970's
2012
If I could choose my favourite then it would be my own Dolly Varden from my birthday cake.
Her little face is a happy one :-)

Pearl has come to love standing in a little tea cup !
It's rude to dip your toes into a tea cup but I think I will forgive her because she looks so pretty !  lol

Please be sure to share your own Cupie Doll stories from your youth with me. I know that some of you dear readers must have had one during your childhood.

HERE IT IS !!! MY NEW JEWELLERY RANGE

NEW !
Welcome to the birth of a new beginning.

I now invite you to be the first to view my brand new range of antique and vintage inspired jewellery.

This blog was the birthplace of something special to me.
I had been planning on writing a book for many years. A book that would inspire and share beauty in every day life with the world.   I wanted to share stories and create and touch the world with my fingertips.

After much deliberation and a MASSIVE amount of photographs I decided to instead enter the world of blogging.
AND THAT WAS THE BEGINNING OF SOMETHING SPECIAL.
I have made so many beautiful friends all over the world and am inspired beyond imagination by endless souls who share their stories and imagination with the world.

Today I would like you to hold my hand and scroll down to see my new creations.

My new range has soul and goodness and beauty.
My concept is to tread lightly on the Earth, up cycle beautiful antique and vintage lace, ribbons, fabrics and offer it to the world. I am very fortunate to have a beautiful supply of French lace straight from the French countryside at the moment and use it in my designs.

French Cuffs and pendants are listed now for purchase now and many more goodies will arrive in store as I make them.
I use only vintage cottons, press studs etc in my creations where possible. The only new materials that I use to create are simple bezels and resin.  I would like to think that this business will tread carefully on the Earth.

SO THIS IS MY NEW BABY !

I hope that you all love my designs, will be kind enough to leave me some feedback and if I ask nicely (with a cherry on top !) maybe you can tell your friends to pop in and visit as well !

YOU WILL FIND MY ETSY PAGE

This French Cuff is my favourite piece in my collection ! Made with antique French lace and antique buckle it is quite the beauty.
Best of all it is a one off creation !
These pieces pictured below are the only designs that have used modern materials in the design process.
See my store for more information.
These pretty cuffs below are stunningly gorgeous and lace up the arm

This pretty cuff (below) is one of my favourite pieces.
and this is the flip side. It is beautiful both top and bottom.

So there it is !!

I hope you have been oo'ing and aa'hing admiring them.
I have had a wonderful time creating them for you all.

Maybe I will see you in store !

Barbie Steps Out In Style !

Barbie goes to Malibu !!

Actually I think she looks more like she is going to Beverly Hills !
She is looking dazzling don't you think ?

My lovely friend Miss M has a collection of Barbie dolls that would have Ken in quite a frazzle !
She has been collecting them for years and years and has cabinets full of them.
There are vintage dolls, regular toy store varieties and silk stones.

They have put my own knotty haired Barbies from the 70's to shame. My poor little ones have all had their lovely locks cut off into what I liked to think were stylish bob cuts.  Sadly though they turned out looking like something out of a horror movie. I think my dolls would give Chucky quite the run for his money ! :-)
I still have them, but they have been shunned to the back of the cupboard.
I knew from the moment I cut their hair, that I was not put on this earth to be a hair stylist ! lol

My Barbies stepped out in style with home made knits made  by my Grandmother. Sadly for Barbie my Grandmother had quite the fetish for  rainbow coloured wool and her waist was increased to 2 sizes bigger than she needed. Her clothes resembled sacks and often had woolen tie belts. I even remember a purple pair of woolen flares that must have had her legs itching ! Poor Barbie must have had such self esteem issues back in those days, what with the bad haircuts and her 'fashionista' clothes !  Ken would have been running for cover if he saw my Barbies........

Miss M's Barbies are dressed in only the best designs. They have silk scarves, tiny handbags and thick , long blond hair.  I'll however ask you to look to the Barbie pictured underneath to the right who is sporting a perfect bob cut !  (clearly her hair stylist is very well trained..........unlike mine !)
I have fashion envy with some of these dolls. If I looked this good every day as I left the house I would be feeling quite chuffed with myself !
To be honest I'm not sure that Barbie looks entirely happy with that pout on her face. I bet she is longing to lie on the couch with a comfortable pink tracksuit on, a pair of socks and her hair tied back in a ponytail. (Who's got fashion envy now Barbie ..........lol)

I guess at the end of the day I will get to sit on my couch with my feet curled up nice and warm. Barbie on the other hand will still be perched up on those heels and sucking in her tummy so that she can still fit into those tight skirts.
It's tough at the top !
I'll take my tracksuit any day :-)
See you all tomorrow

Marie Antoinette

French Blue and Peachy Pink is having an afternoon on the couch watching her favourite movie in the world !

The inspiration I receive from this movie is immense. It is French Blue and Peachy Pink heaven. Every piece of everything in this movie has my eye !  Every square inch of the set is elegance and oppulence at it's best.  There are gloves, silk shoes, glorious gowns and the rooms......aaaahhhhh !  If I could jump through the television screen and live there then I possibly would ! lol

Of course I am talking about MARIE ANTOINETTE. Marie is played by the lovely Kirsten Dunst and her grace and charm through the movie is evident.

It is a great possiblity that I may wear this dvd out in good time ! lol

So today on French Blue and Peachy Pink I will throw my rule of only using my very own photographs out the window and instead I will share with you some of my favourite scenes from the movie.  If you haven't seen it yet, then just duck up to the shops, rent one, set yourself up on the couch with a pot of Earl Grey (you will want posh tea for this movie!) and watch it for yourself !
If you love the fashions from the 1700's, you will adore this movie.

May I quote a scene from the movie.........."She's delightful, I think she looks like a little piece of cake !"

and I have to agree !

                                    Enjoy !

Oh how desperately hard it must have been to fall in love with somebody who you have only known a short while.

and this scene is my most favourite scene from the movie. It is quick so don't blink or you will miss it........but THE SHOES !!!!  OH MY GOODNESS THE SHOES !!!

Press pause when this scene unfolds and drool !

                                    Peachy Pink loveliness

Now.......can somebody please press 'play' again !

If anybody is looking for me, you'll know where to find me !
